About Kintamani & Mount Batur

Kintamani is the highland plateau overlooking the 13 km-wide Batur caldera — one of the world's largest. Mount Batur (1,717 m) is the active cone within it, still venting steam. The pre-dawn trek (2 am departure, ~1.5 hrs) delivers a sunrise above the cloud layer with 360-degree views across Bali and East Java on a clear day. Below, Lake Batur mirrors the sky at first light. After the descent, Toya Bungkah hot springs on the lake shore provide natural volcanic relaxation. The nearby Penglipuran village is considered Bali's best-preserved traditional village.
